When thinking about your air conditioning equipment, most people think comfort in terms of warm or cool air. You think of being comfortable in terms of temperature. But there’s another aspect that you should think about that is extremely important. Of course, I’m talking about the quality of the air that is being circulated through your air conditioning equipment.
According to the EPA, the air inside your home can be 2-5 times more polluted than the air outside. This can present a few issues. Considering that Americans spend most of their time indoors. And these conditions have only gotten worse in recent years with higher efficiency homes, which are better sealed.
So, What are our options? In the HVAC industry, we have three fronts we have to combat in order to make your home a “healthy air” environment. Area #1 is particulates. These are things like pollen, dust mites, smoke, dust. Area #2 is volatile organic compounds. These are your pet odors, cooking odors, cleaning products. Area #3 is bio aerosols. Things like bacteria, mold, and viruses fall into this category. Harder to deal with but not impossible.
To combat area #1 here at Wilson Home Services, we use what we call a Premierone PureFlo P6100. This is a Polarized Media Air Cleaner. This polarized media cleans the air at about 97% efficiency as opposed to the 2% of a regular filter. Our p6100 will take care of smoke, dust, and allergens, not only taking care of the air you breath but also keeping the system clean.
The battle on area #2 and #3 is combated by our premierone Germicidal UV lamp with odor control. There are many versions of this but for now lets focus on the MUV-403H. It has a UV bulb that lasts about 2 years. It produces UV light(power of the sun), which kills bacteria, fungus, and viruses, making your home a little safer to breath easy. And finally the oxidation module. This produces ozone. After a storm, have you ever noticed that the air is so much easier to breath and it feels fresher than before? Well, we recreate that here, inside your air conditioning system. The creation of ozone inside your system allows for the ozone particles to split and collide with particles in the air that are causing foul odors. By doing this, the odors are neutralized.
Now that you know about the quality of your air and how it affects your health, please consider these products for the safety and health of your family and home.
